Compass Rose Surveying, Inc. is a consulting company that specializes in magnetic surveys of compass calibration pads (CCPs). We provide consulting services pertaining to all aspects of compass calibration pad location, design and certification. Services are tailored to your airport's specific needs.
We use a variety of magnetometers all of which are calibrated at least yearly to international standards. Traceability of the calibrations is to NIST.
We have provided compass rose calibrations and certifications since 2001 and will provide references on request for large and small civilian airports, military airports, aircraft manufacturers, airlines, and defense contractors.
Compass Rose Services include:
- Locate site for new pad construction or on existing pavement that will meet FAA or DoD specifications.
- Certify whether an existing pad meets FAA or DoD specifications.
- Pinpoint areas on a CCP that do not meet FAA or DoD specifications and determine the best remedy to bring pad into specs.
- Determine magnetic north on a CCP and mark where radials are to be painted.
- Paint radials to meet all FAA or DoD specifications.
- Provide verbal and written reports.
- Install permanent markers at CCP center to aid in future surveys.
- Calibrate magnetometers to international standards.
- Provide follow up consultation.
